The single win came at Great Yarmouth on 22 April 2025, but that victory now sits 17 months in the past. Since then, Makes Me Wonder has raced six more times without getting back to the winner's circle, though there have been a couple of placed efforts mixed in. Recent form has been patchy: a thirteenth place last time out, followed before that by a couple of mid-field finishes and a fourth on two separate occasions. The horse seems to get its best opportunities over the route of a mile and a furlong to a mile and two furlongs—the sweet spot where it has won once from eight attempts, a 12% win rate that is noticeably better than its overall record. At Class 6 level, where it races most often, it has won 1 of 9 races, so it is a genuine contender in that grade.

Taryn Langley, the horse's most frequent rider, has partnered it five times for one win, a win rate of one in five that suggests a decent understanding between horse and jockey. Simcock's yard has been prolific this season with 39 winners overall, so the infrastructure is there to get the job done. Makes Me Wonder is actively racing and was out just a day ago, so it remains in regular work. For a horse with modest figures, it at least has the consistency of turning up and being competitive, even if success has proved elusive since that spring day at Great Yarmouth more than a year ago.
