What is worth noting is the stable behind the horse. Ivan Furtado's yard in Wiseton, South Yorkshire, has sent out 43 winners already this season, which is a serious volume of success and speaks to an operation that clearly knows how to get horses ready to perform. When a horse comes from a yard firing at that rate, it is rarely short of preparation or opportunity. Furtado's team will know exactly where Lineofsuccession fits and what kind of race suits it best, and with the horse having raced as recently as yesterday, it is very much an active project right now.

Two races is a tiny sample. Some horses take five or six outings before everything clicks — the pace, the distance, the ground conditions on the day. Lineofsuccession is still early in that process, trained by people who are clearly putting horses in the winner's enclosure on a regular basis this season. The next run will tell us considerably more.
