What is worth watching is the yard behind the horse. Declan Carroll trains out of Malton in North Yorkshire, and his team has sent out 24 winners already this season — a healthy haul that suggests Carroll knows how to place his horses and get the best out of them. A trainer with that kind of firepower tends to keep faith with a young horse only if they believe there is something there worth nurturing. The fact that Likeadyinwasp raced just yesterday means Carroll is keeping it busy and active, which often signals a trainer trying to find the right race and the right conditions to unlock a performance.
At 3 years old with only four races under its belt, this horse is still very much a work in progress. Some horses take time to strengthen, to settle into a rhythm, or simply to find a race that suits them. The numbers so far are unimpressive, but the chapter is short and the pen is still moving.
