Lexington Blitz

The high point so far came at Catterick Bridge on 18 October 2025, when Lexington Blitz landed a Class 2 — one of the top tier of races in Britain. That is not an easy thing to do. Class 2 races attract genuinely good horses, and Lexington Blitz has contested five of them, winning one and placing in others. That 1-from-5 record at that level (20%) might look modest on paper, but the fact that it belongs in those races at all, and has beaten them once, tells you this is a horse with real ability.

The recent form makes for interesting reading. Reading the last six runs backwards — two seconds, two seconds, a win, then ninth — you can see a horse that came back from a rough race to rattle off three consecutive runners-up finishes before finally converting at Catterick. That kind of consistent placing before a win is the pattern of a horse that knows what it is doing. It raced just one day ago, so Lexington Blitz is clearly in the thick of a busy campaign right now.

Behind the horse is Robert Cowell, one of Newmarket's established trainers, and his yard has been in fine form this season with 26 winners already. Cowell is known for placing his horses carefully, and the fact that Lexington Blitz first won at Windsor in August 2024 and then stepped up to take a Class 2 at Catterick just over a year later suggests a horse that has been developed with some patience. The career is still young, the form is trending upward, and with a trainer in good heart and a horse that clearly enjoys the big occasions, there is every reason to think the best may still be ahead.
