The catch is timing. Letmebetheboss last visited the winner's circle nearly a year ago at Haydock Park on 26 September 2025, and his recent form makes grim reading: an eighth, a ninth, two sevenths, a fourth, and a single win in his last six races. That lone success came just yesterday, which tells you he is at least still trying — but the months of struggle before it suggest something has gone wrong. When a horse that can win one race in three at his best distance suddenly cannot string together a decent run, it usually means he is either running below his form, or his rivals have genuinely moved beyond him.

Trainer Tony Carroll's yard at Cropthorne has been prolific this season, sending out 136 winners, so Letmebetheboss is not languishing in a struggling operation. Jockey Lewis Edmunds has ridden him twice and won both times, a success rate of 100 per cent across those two rides — far better than the horse's overall record, which hints that Edmunds knows how to get the best from him. Whether that partnership can revive his fortunes over the next few races is worth watching. For now, Letmebetheboss remains a horse capable of winning at the right track and distance, but recent form suggests he is fighting to rediscover the form that brought him success a year ago.
