That caution is sensible at this stage — the yard belongs to Roger Varian at Newmarket, a trainer who has already sent out 87 winners this season and clearly knows how to bring a young horse along properly. The first career win came at Southwell in late July, and since then Kokbastau has won twice more in quick succession, building genuine momentum. With a win rate of roughly one in every two races, this is a horse that has moved beyond promising and into genuinely dangerous territory.

What makes Kokbastau especially interesting right now is that it raced just a day ago, which means it is still actively campaigning and there is clearly more to come. The horse has done its heavy lifting early in its career, and with Roger Varian holding the reins and a win rate that most trainers would kill for, there is every reason to think the best is still ahead.
