Her recent form tells a story of inconsistency mixed with flashes of promise. In her last six runs, she has finished fourth, fifth, third, second, first, and fourth again, most recently a week ago. That victory at Musselburgh came after trainer Ben Haslam made a crucial tactical switch. The horse had struggled at Wetherby, running too freely early on, but at Musselburgh everything clicked. Haslam noted that stepping up in distance and, crucially, changing direction—running right-handed instead of left—seemed to suit her temperament. She was able to settle and relax, pricking her ears in front before holding on. The lesson wasn't about fitness; it was about understanding the horse herself.

Haslam's Middleham Moor yard has been prolific this season, sending out 35 winners already. There is genuine affection for Kientzheim in the stable. The trainer noted before her Kempton win that she is closely related to Epatante, a noted jumping horse, and described her as neat and in good form—praise that came with the caveat that she remained a novice who would have to mature. After her Class 2 victory at Kempton, where she jumped cleanly until the pace quickened, Haslam suggested she could now step up into better races. A horse that took this long to break her maiden might yet surprise those who have written her off, provided the right conditions—and the right direction—align.
