Her recent form makes interesting reading: in her last six races she has finished 3rd, 3rd, 11th, 7th, 3rd, and 10th (reading from oldest to most recent). There is a pattern there — two solid placings, a rough patch in the middle, and then a flat last run before she was pulled out of racing for around six months. That break is the big question mark heading into her return. Six months off can mean all sorts of things, and Nigel Tinkler's yard in Langton, North Yorkshire, will know far better than anyone whether she is coming back refreshed or whether there are lingering concerns.
Tinkler is worth knowing about. His yard has sent out 37 winners this season, which makes him a trainer who consistently finds winners at this level, even if his bigger names tend to get more of the spotlight. Jeany May's regular partner in the saddle is Alex Jary, who has ridden her in 12 of her 17 races and shares that one win. Together they win roughly 1 in every 12 times — modest, but they clearly know each other well.
She races almost exclusively in Class 5 company, the bread-and-butter tier of British racing, where she has won 1 from 9 attempts at that level — about 1 in every 9 races. That one Nottingham win on November 6th is now over 17 months ago, which is a long time to be carrying a form line that says you have not won since. Whether the break has done her good or simply added more distance between her and that Nottingham day is the question her next run will start to answer.
