That most recent win came at Newmarket just this week, on 14 April 2026, which is about as current as form gets. Newmarket is one of the most prestigious venues in British racing — a wide, galloping track that tends to favour horses with genuine ability rather than ones sneaking through on luck or a soft field. Winning there matters. It is also worth noting that Jakajaro's very first career victory came at The Curragh in Ireland back in July 2023, another track with a serious reputation. Two of the horse's three wins have come at courses that do not hand out easy results.

The partnership with jockey Luke McAteer is one of the more interesting threads in Jakajaro's story. McAteer has been in the saddle for 13 of those 28 races and has ridden 2 of the 3 winners — a win rate of around 15%, or roughly 1 in every 6 rides together. That is noticeably better than Jakajaro's overall average, which suggests something clicks between this jockey and this horse.

The one area where Jakajaro has genuinely struggled is at Class 2 level — the upper tier of British racing, just below the very biggest occasions. In 8 races at that level, the horse has yet to win, which is a blank record worth acknowledging honestly. Trainer Robert Cowell, based at the famous racing town of Newmarket in Suffolk, clearly believes Jakajaro belongs in good company — his yard has already sent out 25 winners this season alone, so he knows what a live contender looks like. Whether Jakajaro can finally crack Class 2 is the obvious next question, and given how well the horse is running right now, it would be unwise to bet against it happening soon.
