What gives the picture a more hopeful edge is who is doing the training. Nigel Tinkler operates out of Langton in North Yorkshire and has sent out 37 winners already this season — a strong body of work that shows this is a yard that knows how to get horses to perform. Tinkler has a reputation for being patient with younger horses, and with Itszaboy still only three, there is at least a logical reason to think the book on this one is not yet closed.

The most recent run came just a day ago, so Itszaboy is very much a horse in active campaign. Sometimes the sheer number of runs in a short window can tell its own story — the team is clearly trying to find the right conditions to unlock something. Whether they find it soon is the question, but with a trainer operating at this level of output behind it, Itszaboy has at least landed in capable hands.
