The other thing that unlocks Incensed is the ground. On wet or muddy going, the record reads 2 wins from 4 races, a 50% win rate that is simply exceptional. Most horses find soft ground a grind; Incensed seems to thrive on it. Pair that with the preferred trip — middle distances of around a mile and three to a mile and four furlongs — and the profile becomes quite specific. At that distance, on that kind of ground, Incensed has won 3 from 5 races, a 60% win rate. That is not luck. That is a horse who has found its conditions.

Incensed is trained by Amanda Perrett at her yard in Pulborough, West Sussex, and the team has sent out 6 winners already this season, so there is clearly form in the yard. The one complication to note is that Incensed is stepping back into Class 3 company — one of the more competitive middle tiers — and the record there is 1 win from 6 races, roughly 1 in 6. The overall ability is not in question; it is whether the opposition at that level leaves enough room for this horse to shine.

The other thing any follower needs to know is the gap. Incensed has not raced for six months, returning from a break after last appearing in July 2025. Horses can come back rusty or they can come back fresh and ready — there is no reliable way to know which until the gates open. What we do know is that the last win came at Kempton Park in early July, and that the yard has been in decent form. If the ground is on the softer side and the race is over a mile and three or four furlongs, Incensed has every reason to be taken seriously. Whether the layoff has blunted that edge is the only real question worth asking.
