Two of his four victories have come in Class 2 races — just one level below the very top races in Britain. Winning at that level once is an achievement for most horses. Doing it twice, including at Sandown Park in April 2024, puts him firmly among the more capable horses Mulholland has trained. The trainer himself has spoken warmly about the horse, describing him as having done very little wrong and expressing genuine belief that he could step up again. That kind of quiet confidence from a yard that has sent out 60 winners this season is worth listening to.

The Worcester angle is particularly striking. Ike Sport has raced there five times and won twice — a 40% win rate at that course. For context, most horses never win at a specific track at all across their careers, let alone two from five. Something about the place suits him, and that is exactly the kind of stat a knowledgeable fan files away for next time he turns up there.

His partnership with jockey Sam Twiston-Davies is another thread worth following. Together they have won 2 from 11 races — roughly 1 in every 5 and a half — which is a solid return at this level. Mulholland has also been careful with the horse, avoiding winter's wet and muddy ground to keep him fresh for when conditions suit. The plan has always been to target him selectively, and that patience has generally been rewarded.

The one shadow over the picture is that his last win came at Sandown in April 2024 — two years ago now — and he has not added to his tally in his last six races, finishing second twice but not converting. He raced just yesterday, so this is a horse in active campaign. Whether he can find that winning feeling again is the open question, but a horse who has beaten good rivals at big tracks, with a trainer in form and a regular jockey who knows him well, is rarely without a chance.
