His first win came at Market Rasen in July 2024, and by all accounts it was a performance that turned heads. Alan King described it as a victory in very good style — the kind of run that makes a yard sit up and start planning bigger things. Those plans hit an early snag when, at Ludlow the following October, the horse had a scary moment at one of the track's notorious crossings mid-race, nearly coming down. Jockey Tom Cannon, who partners I'd Go Maniac more than anyone else and wins roughly 1 in every 5 rides together, felt the horse would have seriously troubled the winner had the incident not happened. It was bad luck compounded by injury — a joint had to be stitched afterwards — and the horse was sent off in a new direction, switching to hurdle racing to recover and rebuild.

His second win came at Wolverhampton in November 2025, around eight months ago now, and since then he has posted a run of 8-4-5-2-4-3 — consistent placings that show he is competitive without quite getting his head in front. He has raced just once in the last day, so he is firmly in active campaign mode. Over longer distances of two miles and beyond, he wins 1 from every 4 races, which is where he looks most comfortable. King's yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 57 winners, so the infrastructure around I'd Go Maniac is strong. The question is simply whether another win is coming — and on recent form, he keeps knocking on the door.
