What's interesting is the recent form: a second place eight days ago, followed by a win ten months back. The gaps between races are telling. Hamdania has been racing regularly but without the clustering of starts you'd see from a horse being campaigned hard, which suggests the trainer, James Horton, is being selective. Horton runs a Newmarket yard that has sent out 20 winners this season, so he knows how to point a horse in the right direction. The question now is whether Hamdania will build on that December victory or settle into a pattern of occasional placings. The horse is still young enough that either path is possible. At 25 per cent win rate — roughly one victory in every four outings — there is consistency there, thin as it is, rather than a horse out of its depth or fundamentally talented. Hamdania is active and racing now, so the next few months will show whether it can find the form to win again or slip into the lower reaches of the sport.
