Recent form suggests the horse is competitive at least. In the last six outings, there have been two placed efforts: a second just a day ago and a fourth a few runs back. The other four ran fifth, eighth, eleventh and nineteenth, which shows inconsistency. Some days Green Kite runs respectably in the mix; other days it simply does not fire. That unpredictability is the real problem here. A horse that always runs badly is easy to read. One that occasionally threatens but never quite delivers is the harder puzzle.
Kevin Thomas Coleman's yard at Carrick-on-Suir is active and has saddled eight winners already this season, so it is not a struggling operation. That context matters: the trainer plainly knows how to get horses to the winner's enclosure. Whether Green Kite has the ability to join that list remains to be seen. For now, the horse is a maiden by record but not by nature — it can run, it can place, but the final step to victory has not come. It races again soon enough, no doubt, and one of those competitive efforts could finally convert into a win.
