Granny B

The pattern becomes clearer when you look at where the horse actually competes. At Class 5 level—the lower tiers of racing in Britain—Granny B has managed zero wins from 18 races. That is telling. The horse's single career win came at a different level entirely, suggesting that Granny B has been aimed at progressively easier races without finding a return to the winner's circle. Recent form is bleak: in the last six outings, there have been no wins, just a succession of sevenths, sevenths, fifths, and sixths. The horse is still active—it raced just a day ago—but there is no momentum.

There is one small bright spot in the data. Over distances between five and six and a half furlongs, Granny B has won 1 race from 12 attempts, an 8 per cent win rate. That is genuinely the horse's best territory, yet even there, the wins are sparse. Jockey Charlie Deutsch has ridden Granny B seven times without a victory. At this stage of its career, the horse is doing what so many lower-level racers do: showing up, trying, and heading home without the prize money. The margins between winning and just missing are often slim, but over nearly three years, slim margins add up to a very long drought.
