That pattern of inconsistency is worth watching. He can win decisively when conditions suit him, but he can also disappear from view. The David O'Meara yard at Upper Helmsley has plenty of firepower this season with over 100 winners, so Goyard is being trained in a stable clearly capable of getting horses right when it matters. Whether his recent return to the winner's circle marks a genuine resurgence or just a flash remains to be seen, but at Ripon he remains a horse worth respecting.
