That's a 67% win rate, the kind of consistency that suggests this horse knows exactly what it is capable of. The problem is that nothing has come since August, and the recent form tells the story. In its last six races, Goyard has been third once and fourth once, but has also finished sixth and seventh. It raced just yesterday, and that most recent outing was a third-place finish—not disgraceful, but a reminder that the winning magic has gone quiet for 14 months.

David O'Meara's yard at Upper Helmsley is having a strong season with 101 winners, so Goyard is not being neglected. The real question is whether the horse belongs in bigger races or whether it is simply a track-and-grade specialist waiting to find another low-level Class 5 race at Ripon where it can do damage. For now, Goyard remains active and recent, but it needs to either go back to what works or find a way to win outside its comfort zone.
