Garden Oasis

Easterby noted early on that a mile on dry ground was the key to getting the best out of him, and the numbers back that up: on fast, dry ground, Garden Oasis has won 4 of 14 races — that's 29%, nearly 1 in 3 — which is a notably better return than his overall record. He is the kind of horse who needs conditions in his favour.

The partnership with jockey David Allan has been central to the story. Of Garden Oasis's 7 career wins, all seven came with Allan in the saddle, from 28 rides together — that's 25%, or 1 in every 4 races they've run as a pair. Allan has spoken candidly about how the horse has changed with age: the sharp turn of foot he once had is gone, so the approach now is to use his stamina, push the pace early, and make rivals work hard to pass him. "He digs in really well," Allan has said — and that gritty, unflashy quality is probably what has kept Garden Oasis competitive deep into his career.

Ayr is the track where he has looked most at home, winning 2 of his 5 races there — a 40% record that makes him a genuine course specialist. His last win came at Pontefract in August 2025, around ten months ago, and his most recent six races have produced no wins. But he has been placing — finishing third, third, and second in that spell — which suggests a horse running respectably without quite finding the winner's enclosure. At 11, the wins may come less often, but Garden Oasis is still competing and still placing, which for a horse of his age is no small thing.
