Further Measure

That means when the rain comes and the ground gets heavy, Further Measure wins almost 1 in every 3 races. Most horses tolerate wet ground; this one actively feeds off it. Similarly, the longer trips — between a mile and six furlongs and two miles — bring out the best, with 6 wins from 27 races at those distances, a rate of roughly 1 in every 4 and a half races. Put the two together and you have a horse with a very clear profile: long, wet, and dangerous.

Southwell is the track to watch. Three wins from 8 races there represents a win rate of 37%, and in racing terms that is bordering on a home course. Winning more than 1 in every 3 times you visit the same track, across 8 visits, is not luck — it is a genuine affinity, whether that is the surface, the track shape, or simply familiarity.

Further Measure races mainly at Class 6 level, which is the entry point of the sport, and has won 4 of 19 races at that grade — again around 1 in 5. The last win came at Kempton Park in February 2026, four months ago, but the recent form figures of 7-4-4-1-4-4 show a horse that is right in the mix rather than fading.
