Filly Eilish

The recent form tells an interesting story. Her last two outings both ended in sixth, but scroll back a little further and you find a third and a second, which means she has been closer to winning than her overall record might suggest. Whether she can recapture that earlier form is the key question, and with a race just yesterday, she is clearly being kept busy and given every chance to find her feet.

She is trained by Ivan Furtado at Wiseton in South Yorkshire, a yard that has sent out 43 winners already this season — a strong indication that this is not a team that simply makes up the numbers. When a yard fires in winners at that kind of volume, it usually means there is a clear plan behind each horse's campaign. That Filly Eilish has not yet won does not mean the team has given up on her; three-year-olds often take time to develop, and placing twice in four races is a reasonable foundation to build on.
