What makes Ferrous genuinely interesting is his total mastery of normal ground conditions. On a standard racing surface, he has won four races from nine attempts—a 44% win rate that stands out sharply against his overall record. Put him on firm, fast ground and his record drops to one win from seven races. This is not coincidence. Ferrous is a horse that needs his racing surface to suit him, and when it does, he becomes genuinely dangerous. Trainers who know this detail will plan around it.

His form has been curious lately. He won three consecutive Class 2 races between February and May 2025, a run that suggested real momentum. But in his last six races he has not found the winner's circle once, though he has picked up places in four of those runs, most recently finishing fourth just a day ago. At six years old, Ferrous is in the prime years for a horse at this level, and he remains active enough that a return to form is entirely possible—particularly if the yard can get him back to a track with normal ground and a race that suits his style.
