Back in September 2025, Tuer was candid about the situation — this was a talented horse that had been placed badly on occasion and kept running into better rivals at the wrong moments. The trainer believed in it, flagging soft, wet ground over five furlongs as the conditions most likely to unlock its best. He wasn't wrong. The second win arrived at Thirsk just this week, in early July 2026, and the horse raced just yesterday — active, fit, and clearly in the form of its life.

What's curious is the class puzzle. Farandaway has run 12 times in Class 5 races — the everyday, bread-and-butter level of the sport — and is yet to win one. Zero from 12 at that level. Yet the wins have come elsewhere, which suggests this is a horse that responds to a slightly different challenge, or perhaps just that it's been at its best when conditions suited it rather than when the opposition was weakest.
