R. Burke, notes that she needed sharpening up after becoming idle at home, and the change of approach has worked. She has won two of her last six races and is clearly back in the winning mood. Burke also points to her strong preference for firm ground — on anything quicker than that, her head comes up and she loses her confidence. It is a quirk that has defined her career and one the yard clearly understands and works around.

Her most consistent jockey is James Doyle, though their record together stands at two wins from six races, a 33 per cent win rate. Where they really click is on courses and in conditions that suit her. Burke has spoken about running her at the very top of the sport — the Breeders' Cup is mentioned as a possible final goal before retirement — and indicates this may well be her last season at the track. For a horse now five years old and already proven at the highest level, the plan seems to be making the most of what time remains, with ground conditions as the crucial variable in every decision.
