Fairlawn Skipper

Mickey Bowen's yard at Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire has been prolific this season, sending out 52 winners, and Fairlawn Skipper is clearly contributing to that tally. His first career win came at Stratford-on-Avon in July 2025, and since then he has steadily picked up victories. The recent run of 1-2-1-–-1-11 (reading his last six races from most recent backwards) shows consistency: wins and places mixed with the odd disappointing outing, but nothing that breaks the thread entirely. When he doesn't win, he often finishes second or third, which tells you he is reliable and competitive at his level. The blank race and the eleventh-place effort are the exceptions that prove the rule—six races in and he has brought home a winner or a place in five of them.

Interestingly, Fairlawn Skipper struggles when stepped up to the top level. In five Class 4 races—the highest class he has attempted—he has failed to win at all. This suggests his sweet spot is the slightly easier races further down the ladder, where his recent winning form is flourishing. For the yard who know his limitations and race him accordingly, that is not a weakness—it is clarity about where he is likely to deliver.
