Escapologist

The results so far suggest the plan is working. Escapologist picked up his first career win at Fakenham in January 2025, then added another at Market Rasen just two months ago in March 2026. Two wins might not sound like much, but the fact that his most recent race was just yesterday tells you the team are keeping him busy and in good form. His last six runs read 3-6-4-1-–-4, which shows he has been knocking around the top half of his fields fairly regularly, with that Market Rasen win sitting right in the middle of the sequence.

Class 4 is where Escapologist spends most of his time — these are solid, competitive races without being at the very top level. In that grade he has won 1 from 6, roughly 1 in every 6 attempts, which is a respectable return. Mr Alex Chadwick has been the regular jockey for much of the partnership, riding him in 5 of his races and winning once — a 20% win rate together, which is actually better than the horse's overall average. That kind of consistency between horse and rider tends to matter; familiarity builds trust, and trust can be the difference on a tricky track. Scholfield's yard has sent out 19 winners this season, so Escapologist is operating within a stable that knows how to get horses to the track in winning form. Whether he can climb above Class 4 as his fencing career develops is the question worth watching.
