The career highlights tell an interesting story. The first win came at Salisbury in June 2023, and crucially it was a Class 2 race — one of the better races in British racing. Equity Law didn't ease itself in at the lower levels before finding its feet; it announced itself at a meaningful grade. That was backed up with another Class 2 victory at Sandown Park in April 2024, which is one of the more prestigious tracks in the country. Winning two Class 2 races suggests a horse with genuine ability, not just one that picks up easy opportunities.

There's an interesting puzzle buried in the record, though. Tim Easterby's yard in North Yorkshire has sent out 128 winners this season alone — a prolific, high-functioning operation — yet Equity Law has failed to win in nine attempts at Class 3, the level directly below its best wins. Zero wins from nine at that grade, while winning at Class 2, is a quirk worth noting. It might simply reflect how competitive the mid-tier races are, or suggest this horse performs better when the occasion is bigger. The jockey picture adds another wrinkle: David Allan has ridden it nine times without a win, yet the horse has clearly been winning for someone. The Pontefract victory this week shows the partnership with the yard is in good health, whatever the combination on the day. This is a horse in form, trained by one of the most active yards in the country, and worth watching closely.
