Ecclefechan

The horse is a creature of habit at modest tracks. Both wins came within a week in late August: first at Windsor on the 24th, then at Great Yarmouth just six days later. Those back-to-back victories suggest the horse knows what it takes to win and can do it again quickly when conditions suit. Yet when stepped up to compete at the very top level — in Class 2 races — Ecclefechan has struggled. It has been entered three times at that standard and failed to win in any of them, which tells you exactly where it belongs. John Ryan's Newmarket yard is a solid operation that has already sent out eleven winners this season, so the horse is in capable hands. At just three years old and with fresh momentum from two recent wins, Ecclefechan is a horse still finding its way, but one that appears to be trending in the right direction.
