Dubai Honour

The two wins tell a neat story. The first came at Kempton Park in April 2024, and the second at Southwell in November 2025 — both on all-weather tracks, both under lights, both at the top level. That is not a coincidence. Some horses simply suit artificial surfaces, and Dubai Honour appears to be one of them. Winning 2 from 13 races at Class 1 level (roughly 1 in every 6 at that grade) is genuinely respectable — it means this horse has competed with the best and come out on top twice, which is more than most manage.

Recent form has been encouraging without being explosive. Of the last six runs, four have produced a top-two finish, and the sequence reads 2-1-blank-2-2-7 coming into this run. That one win in the sequence was the Southwell victory in November, and the cluster of placed efforts around it suggests a horse that is consistently competitive without always finding that extra gear to win. The current break of around three months — roughly 102 days since the last run — will be the key question. William Haggas trains the yard from Newmarket and has sent out 176 winners this season alone, so Dubai Honour is in capable hands returning from a rest.

One puzzle worth noting: Tom Marquand has ridden this horse nine times without a win — 0 from 9 together. That does not mean the partnership is doomed, but it is the kind of stat that makes you wonder whether a fresh jockey might unlock something new. The distance range where Dubai Honour performs best is a mile and one or two furlongs — five races at that trip, one win, a rate of 1 in 5. Get the trip right, get the surface right, and there is clearly a talented horse in here somewhere.
