The most striking thing about Dream Of Mischief is where it wins. Both the first career win, at Lingfield Park back in September 2022, and the most recent, at Kempton Park in October 2025, came on the all-weather tracks that dominate winter racing in Britain. The horse clearly has a preference, and a trainer who knows how to find the right opportunities. Amanda Perrett runs a yard down in Pulborough, West Sussex, and has sent out five winners already this season — a small but purposeful operation that picks its spots carefully.

The current form gives real reason for interest. Reading the last six results from most recent back, you get a fourth, a second, a seventh, a twelfth, then a win, then another seventh. That win in October — nine months ago now — sits at the heart of a spell that has been patchy either side of it, but the second place just one race ago suggests the horse is finding form again. It raced just one day ago, which means it is fit and active and right in the middle of its season.

The one puzzle is the class level. Dream Of Mischief has raced 19 times in Class 4 races — the bread-and-butter mid-tier of British racing — and has not won a single one of them. Zero from 19. Its wins have come when the conditions lined up in a different way entirely. That is not a failure exactly, but it does tell you something: this is a horse that needs everything to fall right. Jim Crowley, who has ridden it eight times for one win together, will know that feeling better than anyone.

At six years old, Dream Of Mischief is no youngster, but it is still racing, still placing, and still capable of surprising. The second place last time out suggests there may be another win in it yet — probably on an all-weather track, probably when the competition drops to exactly the right level.
