That recent win is the headline. Looking at the last six results in reverse order, the picture is a mixed one: a seventh, then a win, then a tenth, a fifth, a third, and a seventh. There are clear peaks in there — the Newcastle win and a placed effort — but also some quieter days. That is fairly normal for a young horse still finding its feet and working out what racing is all about.
What gives genuine cause for optimism is who is training it. Ivan Furtado, based at Wiseton in South Yorkshire, has sent out 43 winners already this season — that is a yard operating in serious form right now. When a trainer is firing in winners at that rate, it means the horses in their care are fit, well-prepared, and being placed in races they can win. A young, lightly raced horse sitting in that kind of yard, having just broken its duck, is worth keeping an eye on.
Having raced just yesterday, Dontwaste A Moment is very much an active horse mid-campaign. The story is still being written.
