Her recent form reads 4-7-4-4-2-5, which tells you she's been running consistently without quite getting over the line. A second-place finish in there shows the spark is still present. She raced just yesterday, so she's firmly in training and clearly being kept busy. Most of her career has been spent at Class 6 level — the entry-level tier of British racing — where she's won 4 of 21 races, around 1 in 5. That's a respectable return at that level, and it tells you this is a horse who competes honestly without necessarily being aimed at the big occasions.

Daisy Roots won't feature in any headlines, but she's a genuine, hard-working racehorse who does her job. In a sport full of uncertainty, that counts for something.
