That breakthrough came at Catterick Bridge on 22 April 2026, and it remains Cranachan's only career win to date, recorded around three months ago. Catterick is a tight, turning track in North Yorkshire that suits horses who are switched on and willing — winning there means something. Since then, the form figures of 2-4-1 show a horse who ran well enough to finish second, slipped back to fourth, and then landed that win before a second place on the most recent outing just a day ago. Cranachan is clearly in good heart and right in the mix at present.
The team behind the horse is worth noting. Ralph Beckett, based at Kimpton in Hampshire, is one of British racing's most respected trainers when it comes to developing younger horses, and this season his yard has sent out 107 winners — a remarkable volume that reflects not just talent but organisation and depth. Having a three-year-old in that kind of environment, still learning and still placing consistently, suggests there could be more to come from Cranachan as the season progresses.
