Court In A Storm

Trained by Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls out of Cheltenham, the seven-year-old got its career underway at Ludlow in October 2024 and hasn't looked back. The yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 31 winners, and Court In A Storm has been one of the horses carrying that momentum. Bailey's own words from late 2024 gave a clear sense of what the team thought they had on their hands — even then, after just one win, there was quiet confidence that the horse would "pay its way" and had the tools to step up to hurdles in time. That kind of calm, measured backing from a trainer tends to mean something.

The recent form figures tell an interesting story. Going back through the last six races — second, fourth, seventh, a run that doesn't show a finishing position, then two wins back-to-back before that — you can see a horse that dipped in the middle of its career before rediscovering its best. Those consecutive wins, including a victory at Uttoxeter in October 2025, showed real quality. The fact it raced just yesterday means this is a horse right in the thick of things right now, not one coasting on old glories.

With a career record of three wins and five places from eight outings, Court In A Storm has finished in the top three in every race it has completed with a result — that's a level of consistency that makes it genuinely hard to dismiss. It hasn't yet tackled one of the top races in Britain, and at Class 4 level it is operating below the very highest tier, but within that sphere it has been close to dominant. The question now is whether the team decide to test it against stiffer competition. The foundation is certainly there.
