Cosmic Soul

Trained by Patrick Neville at Coverham in North Yorkshire, Cosmic Soul carries the hallmark of a horse that needed patience. His first win came at Catterick Bridge in July 2025, but the turnaround has been most striking in recent months. Neville has described sorting out physical issues and letting the horse mature mentally, and the results speak for themselves: a win rate of roughly 1 in 5 across his career (6 wins from 29 races), but crucially, a 33 percent win rate at longer distances of two miles and beyond, and that same 33 percent on normal ground. At Sedgefield, where conditions and distance clearly suit him perfectly, he is virtually unbeatable.

The partnership with jockey Jason Hart has also borne fruit, producing two wins from six rides together—a 33 percent return that suggests a real working relationship. Yet Cosmic Soul remains something of a puzzle at higher levels: he wins only 1 in 12 races at the top class, suggesting he belongs at a more modest tier of competition. That is no criticism—racing needs horses like this, reliable and genuine at their level. What matters now is that after years of searching for his best, Cosmic Soul appears to have found it.
