"He's not very big but he's tough," the trainer said, which is the kind of assessment that tends to prove accurate over time.

The recent run of six races without a win — a sequence of seconds, thirds, and a fourth — might look frustrating, but a horse that places in every one of those races is clearly competitive. The yard has sent out 19 winners this season, so the horses are in form. Continuance raced just yesterday, keeping itself race-fit and sharp. At Class 4 level, where it has won 3 from 10 races, this is a horse that belongs and knows it. The wins will come.
