Four of Coast's six career wins have come at Lingfield Park, from just 11 races there. That is an extraordinary concentration — winning more than a third of its races at one specific track while winning fewer than 1 in 14 elsewhere. Something about that course clearly suits this horse, whether it is the surface, the shape of the track, or simply familiarity built up over years. Horses do develop genuine preferences, and Lingfield Park appears to be Coast's happy place.

The problem is that the last of those Lingfield wins came in August 2024 — nearly two years ago now. Since then, Coast has gone six races without winning, with recent finishes of 9th, 11th, 7th, 7th, 4th, and 3rd. That fourth and third place suggest the horse is still competitive, still placing, but the wins have dried up. Trained by Scott Dixon at his yard in Rolleston, Nottinghamshire — a yard that has sent out 33 winners already this season, so clearly in decent form — Coast's challenge is converting those near-misses back into a trip to the winner's enclosure.

Jockey Elisha Whittington has partnered Coast more than anyone else, riding in 22 of its 83 races together and winning twice — a win rate of 9%, or roughly 1 in 11. That is actually slightly better than Coast's overall record, suggesting theirs is a productive partnership even if wins remain hard to come by. Coast raced just yesterday, which means it is very much still active and still being aimed at opportunities. The question now is whether another visit to Lingfield Park might unlock that winning feeling once more.
