It is a horse that needs a proper test of endurance to show its best, and when conditions fall right, it can be competitive.

Those conditions matter. On wet or muddy ground, Chicago Storm has won 2 of just 5 races — that is 40%, a striking figure that transforms it from a reliable also-ran into something worth paying close attention to. Most horses perform well in one set of conditions and poorly in others; Chicago Storm's improvement in the wet is dramatic enough to be a defining characteristic rather than a footnote.
