On paper, Chemistry's record reads well: 3 wins and 7 places from 13 races, meaning he finishes in the top spots in nearly 8 out of every 10 outings. His win rate of around 1 in every 4 races — 23% — is solid, and his record on normal ground is genuinely impressive. On a standard surface he's won 2 of his 5 attempts, a 40% win rate that puts him among the most reliable horses around when conditions suit. That's not a fluke; that's a horse who knows what he's doing when the track is right.

Where he hasn't quite cracked it yet is at the highest level. In three attempts at Class 2 races — some of the better races in Britain — he's yet to win. His recent form is mixed too: a win at Sedgefield in April sandwiched between some more modest finishes. But that Sedgefield run was no accident. Candlish had pointed him there specifically during Cheltenham Festival week, suggesting real confidence in him for that day. He duly delivered.

His career started at The Curragh in Ireland in April 2024, and he raced at Leopardstown before making the move to Candlish's operation. His trainer at the time noted after one run that jockey Declan felt there was "plenty more in there" — the kind of comment that tends to stick around a horse who keeps promising big things. Candlish has since been talking him up as an exciting prospect over hurdles, and with 61 winners sent out from her yard this season alone, she's clearly a trainer in form. Chemistry raced just yesterday, so he's very much in the thick of his campaign. Whatever comes next, this is a horse worth keeping an eye on.
