The story of how he got there is worth telling. For much of his early career, Keatley suspects the horse was quietly being asked the wrong questions — running over six furlongs when five is his best trip, and on ground that didn't suit. When everything clicked into place at Pontefract in July 2025 — a quick surface, a shorter distance — he won comfortably. Keatley described him as appreciating the conditions rather than simply getting lucky, and immediately had his eye on bigger targets. Two months later, Ayr confirmed it. Keatley was emphatic afterwards: "He's a proper five-furlong horse." On his best day, at the right trip, he can beat the best around.

His recent form — two tenth-place finishes and a seventh in his last three runs — looks a little flat after the highs of September, but given that he raced just yesterday, the yard are clearly keeping him busy and believing there is more to come. Jockey Oisin McSweeney has been on board for six of his eleven races and the two have won together twice, a partnership that wins 1 in every 3 times they line up — a strong ratio by any measure.

Keatley's yard has sent out 43 winners this season, so this is a busy, functioning operation rather than a small trainer hoping for one big moment. When someone running a yard at that level calls a horse "big and scopey" and says he'll be "a proper horse for next year," that's a trainer with ambition and a clear plan. Chairmanfourtimes already has a Class 1 on his CV at three. What he does at four will be the real story.
