Cavalry Call

His two wins came more than a year apart: first at Great Yarmouth in September 2024, then at Chelmsford in April 2025. Since that last success sixteen months ago, he has not won again. His recent form tells the story of a horse trying hard but struggling to get his head in front — in his last six races he has run eleventh, thirteenth, seventh, ninth (missed one) and eighth. Nothing terrible, but nothing to suggest a breakthrough is around the corner either.

Patrick Morris trains him from Prescott in Merseyside. The yard has sent out eighteen winners this season, suggesting a competent operation, though Cavalry Call himself has mostly raced at Class 4 level (winning just 1 of 14 at that grade). Harry Davies rides him most often, with a record of 1 win from 7 together. Since racing just a day ago, Cavalry Call is clearly still active and being kept in work — which speaks to his the yard' faith that he can find his way back to the winner's enclosure. It is not a glamorous record, but it is one of genuine consistency. There is a race in him yet.
