Candonomore

The horse's last victory came at Bath six months back, his fifth and most recent win. That said, Candonomore competes almost exclusively in Class 4 races—the bread and butter of racing—where he has managed just one win from thirteen attempts, a win rate that suggests he finds this level genuinely challenging. His best form has come with jockey David Allan in the saddle; the pair have combined for three wins from fourteen races together, a 21% win rate that stands well above his career average and hints at a genuine working relationship.

Trainer Jennie Candlish, based at Basford in Staffordshire, has always seen something capable in the horse. Before his debut win at Haydock in April 2024, he noted his promise across three earlier runs, even without a winner, and flagged that he would suit distances of a mile to a mile and a quarter. The yard itself is in fine form this season with sixty-four winners sent out, so Candonomore has the backing of a stable clearly running well. For now, though, he remains a hard-trying performer in mid-tier races—a horse that wins often enough to justify his place in work, but not often enough to rise noticeably above his current station.
