What makes it a curious situation is that Bring Her Home is trained by Jim Goldie, a man who clearly knows how to find a winner. His yard in Uplawmoor, Lanarkshire has sent out 88 winners this season alone — that is a seriously productive operation, and Goldie has a well-earned reputation for placing horses shrewdly. The fact that this particular horse has not managed to convert any of its nine runs into even a place finish, despite being in capable hands, suggests the horse itself has simply not found its moment yet, or perhaps is still waiting for the right conditions to click.
At Class 6, the lowest tier of British racing, Bring Her Home has had four chances and come up empty each time. Class 6 is where horses go to find races they can be competitive in — these are not prestigious events, just opportunities to get the job done. That it hasn't managed even a podium finish at that level is the bluntest possible assessment of where things stand. The horse raced just one day ago, so the yard are clearly persevering, which at least suggests some belief that a better day is coming. Whether it does remains to be seen.
