That said, Bodhisattva is clearly still finding enough to keep the yard — or rather, the team at Stamullen — sending it out. John C McConnell's yard has been in fine form this season, sending out 38 winners, so this is not a stable struggling for results. The horse has placed eleven times in 35 races, meaning it has finished in the frame nearly a third of the time without converting those chances into wins. It is the sort of horse that turns up, tries hard, and tends to find one or two better on the day.

The partnership with jockey Alex Harvey has produced nothing from seven attempts together, though it has been kept going — Harvey was in the saddle as recently as yesterday, when the horse raced for the most recent time. At the level Bodhisattva typically competes at — broadly mid-tier races — it has won once from six attempts, a rate of roughly 1 in 6 at that grade, which is actually the most encouraging number in the whole profile. The first career win came at Navan in March 2022, and the second at Perth fourteen months later. Whether a third is coming is the question everyone around this horse is presumably asking.
