That is still a modest figure in isolation, but it is double the overall win rate, and it tells you that if this horse is going to win a third race, it almost certainly happens at that kind of distance. The first win came at Nottingham in May 2023, and the second, more recently, at Bath in October 2025 — both of those data points are now locked into the profile as the only moments when everything clicked.

The recent form is more interesting than the career record suggests. Reading the last six runs from newest to oldest — a win, then a fourth, an eleventh, a third, a second, and another second — there is clearly a horse that had a rough patch in the middle and has come back to something resembling its best. That win at Bath five months ago was followed by a break, and Bobby Dassler has not raced since. A 160-day absence is significant; horses can come back in all sorts of condition, and that first run back will tell the yard a lot.

Darragh Keenan has ridden this horse five times without ever getting that winner's feeling, and trainer Alison Thorpe's yard has sent out three winners so far this season — a small but functioning operation. The question when Bobby Dassler returns is straightforward: can it find normal conditions, the right distance, and a good enough day to make it three wins from 39 races? History says probably not, but recent form at least gives a reason to watch.
