The recent form tells a story of inconsistency. In its last six outings, the horse has finished well out of the placings twice but also managed a win and a couple of placed efforts mixed through the defeats. That November victory at Newcastle was ten months ago now, which means Bloodsweatandtyres has been looking for a repeat ever since—a long drought for any horse that has tasted winning. It raced just a day ago, so it remains active on the track and the yard is still searching for another breakthrough. Brian Ellison's Norton operation has had a solid season with 43 winners to its name, so there is clearly quality in the stable, but Bloodsweatandtyres has not yet emerged as one of the yard's stars. Whether it can find the form to win again, or whether that Newcastle success was simply a high point for a moderate performer, the next few races will tell.
