The highlight of his career so far came on 22 March 2025, when Bhaloo won a top-two race at Newbury. That is the kind of result that puts a horse on the map. Henderson, who has sent out 85 winners already this season, has been clear about what makes Bhaloo tick: he loves fast, dry ground, and races in those conditions are where he shows his best. He ran third in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen on exactly that kind of surface — the sort of race Henderson sees as his natural home. When the ground turns wet or heavy, the picture changes.

When Class 1 races come around — the very top tier — Bhaloo has not yet converted, going winless from 4 attempts. That is not a disgrace; those are the hardest races in the sport. But it does suggest his ceiling may sit just below the absolute elite, which is no small thing to say about a horse at the sharp end of the sport. His regular partner is Nico de Boinville, one of the best jump jockeys in the country, and together they have won 3 of their 10 races — 30%, or roughly 1 in every 3 rides. Henderson was effusive about one early run together at Ascot, describing how de Boinville gave Bhaloo a patient, confidence-building ride that drew the best out of him. "There's more to come," Henderson said afterwards. "We love him."

Bhaloo has not raced for around four months — a deliberate break Henderson says has done him the world of good after a summer campaign. That return is worth watching. He comes back fresh, with a trainer who knows exactly what conditions he needs, a trusted jockey in the saddle, and a big win at Newbury still relatively recent in the memory. The pieces are in place for a good autumn.
