Her first career win came at Bellewstown in April 2026, and she backed it up with another victory at Down Royal just a couple of weeks later in early May. Getting a horse to win once is hard enough — winning again so quickly suggests the first success was no fluke and that she had found her stride rather than just caught a lucky break. Two wins in six races — that is 1 in every 3 during this purple patch — compared to 1 in every 11 over her career tells you something has clicked. Whether that is fitness, confidence, or simply racing at the right level, the results speak for themselves.

She is trained by John C McConnell out of Stamullen in County Meath, and the yard has been in fine form this season with 36 winners already on the board. A trainer sending out that volume of winners is a yard operating with confidence, and it shows in how Bella Union has been managed through this run of form. She raced just yesterday, so the yard are clearly not wrapping her in cotton wool — she is being kept busy while the momentum is there.

One thing worth watching is that she has not yet managed to win at the level she most frequently competes at, going 0 from 4 in those races. Her two wins have come elsewhere, which suggests she may be at her best when dropped slightly in grade or given the right kind of race. At ten, horses do not tend to reinvent themselves — but Bella Union does not need to. She has found something in recent months, and with a yard in form and a horse racing with regularity and confidence, there is every reason to think she can add to that tally before the season is out.
