The recent form figures don't offer much encouragement either. Finishing sixth, pulled up, fourth, fourth, fifth, and seventh across the last six races, the best Barrakilla Vage has managed is a couple of fourth-place finishes — close enough to see the prize money, but not close enough to collect any. That pull-up in the recent sequence is also worth noting, suggesting at least one run where things went badly wrong before the line.
Barrakilla Vage is trained by Stuart Coltherd, who operates out of Selkirk in the Scottish Borders. It is a smaller yard — they have sent out just one winner so far this season — and at this level, placing horses in races they can actually win is a genuine puzzle. The horse raced as recently as yesterday, so the yard are clearly still trying, which at least says something about persistence. Whether a first win is genuinely within reach after nine fruitless attempts is the question nobody has been able to answer yet.
