Barmyblade

The last six runs tell a story of a horse clicking into form at exactly the right moment: a second, then a win, sandwiched around a couple of quieter efforts before that. Most recently, Barmyblade won at Thirsk just two weeks ago — and with a race logged only yesterday, this is a horse very much in the thick of things right now.

The Thirsk win follows the first career victory at Catterick Bridge back in April 2025, and both courses are firmly in Tim Easterby's natural territory. Easterby's yard has sent out 128 winners already this season, which is the output of an operation running at full tilt — horses leaving Great Habton in form and ready to run. Being part of a yard firing on all cylinders is no small advantage.

When jockey David Allan takes the ride, the numbers get genuinely interesting. From seven races together, he has partnered Barmyblade to two wins — a win rate of 29%, or nearly one in every three times they team up. That kind of partnership, built on familiarity and timing, often explains why a horse performs above its average when a specific jockey is aboard.

Barmyblade tends to compete at the lower end of the class structure — the level where fields are competitive, margins are tight, and horses have to earn every placing. Winning two from seven at that level at a 29% clip is not to be sniffed at. At four years old and racing in strong form, Barmyblade looks like a horse that knows its job and is getting better at doing it.
