The recent form makes for interesting reading. A run just yesterday — so very much an active, live project — shows the stable is still giving Baldosa plenty of chances to find the breakthrough. Looking back at the last six races, the figures of 2-5-8-11-3-5 paint a picture of a horse that blows hot and cold. That second-place finish and the third suggest there are good days, but the eights and elevens tell you consistency remains elusive. For a three-year-old, though, that is not unusual — this is an age where horses are still learning the job.
Faye McManoman has been the regular partner, riding Baldosa in six of those races without managing to get a win on the board. Six attempts together with nothing to show for it is a tough run, though the horse's overall form suggests that's more about the horse finding its feet than any issue with the rider.
The yard behind Baldosa is worth noting. Nigel Tinkler, operating out of Langton in North Yorkshire, has sent out 37 winners this season — that's a busy, productive operation. Tinkler knows how to get horses winning, which means Baldosa isn't being written off. When a trainer of that output keeps running a horse, it usually means they believe a win is coming. Whether Baldosa can finally deliver that breakthrough is the question worth watching.
